What the heck is everyone complaining about in the format? I got the
OP with the following heading text:
--WebTV-Mail-17878-12785
Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit
but the message was in plain text ascii. Is my news reader just being
smarter than I am about the encoding?

Maybe your server stripped it? It shows with an attachment and I see
this:
Mime-Version: 1.0 (WebTV)
Content-Type: Multipart/Mixed; Boundary=WebTV-Mail-31693-3511
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit
--WebTV-Mail-31693-3511
Content-Description: signature
Content-Disposition: Inline
Content-Type: Text/HTML; Charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit
<html><img src=""></html>
I did mention to him some servers will strip the HTML and it looks like
it is only his signature attachment that is screwing up things.
'I' normally won't open things with attachments, but my Netscape and
computer are pretty locked down right now so I don't have to worry about
the attachment being a microcrap jumping virus.
My server killed the attachment's body too, but left the header info.

I don't know what the OP was using, but the version of PINE that I use
here will jump to MIME format in a reply if it encounters _any_ high-bit
ASCII in the quoted post, like the stuff that Bill inserts into his
messages. Some folks will see the resulting message as a MIME-garbled
mess, others see it as a text file, depending on what they are reading
with. Vis my recent thread "What's it worth?"
Since I don't have much of a choice but to use PINE, I just try to be
careful about quoting non-standard text and strip out non-standard
characters by hand. (When I catch them. It also means having to open the
reply twice in order to convince PINE not to go to MIME.)

hello again ( i removed the signature sorry )
i just started to check out the jeep yesterday and i got it back into
2wd, apperently the 4wd part time was stuck, i think because it was
bound up to tight from driving on pavement. all i had to do was take it
in some dirt rev it up a bit and shift it in & out of 4wd p/t to 2wd,
thank's mike now it's just like it was before, except i found a broken
and melted coil post in the distributor cap so i replaced it and the
rotor, plug's wire's, and air filter. apperently the only maintenance
that was kept up on was oil ( woman sigh.. ) suprisingly with all the
trouble i had and the badly needed tune up, it was averging 16-17 mpg
mixed frwy/city how many mpg should i expect ? also about the 4wd
system, which is probably in need of some help. but i cant afford to fix
nor do i need it now, so i will deal with that later. and mike how do a
check the front joint ? thank's for all the help everyone, i realy
appreciate it being a newcomer to the jeep community.
