Depends on the years. Cherokee tended to get the upgrades a year or two
earlier than the Wrangler. Specific year and model that you are asking

In that case, most likely the engine is the same, the tranny would probably
be the same if both are manual (i'm guessing yes since you are in the UK)
but automatics were different between the XJ and TJ.
