I have personally worked outside for up to 11 hours in -44 Deg C
weather in northern Alberta. I work as a process operator (power
engineer) and use to work in a place called Fort McMurray where they
make oil from the tar sands. At that temperature it is tough to run a
refinery .... things break real easy and during the cold weather and
we are busy trying to keep the plant running during these times. I
have seen many cases of frost bitten cheeks which can happen within
minutes at those temps.

I have owned a couple vehicles that would take off forward when the
clutch pedal was released in neutral if you didn't hold the brake hard.
The gear oil was that thick at -40 or colder.
