2008 Liberty Ltd.
I just bought the new Liberty 08 with the Skyslider feature. I had a
hell of a time finding one. What's up with that. I am curious about
the 17 inch Victory rims. They are "aluminum painted". Is this powder
coated..or?
What are the best detailing products to use in general and the rag top
in particular? The car is black BTW.

I wouldn't take this to the bank, as I'm not a jeeper, but it seems that
they are cast-aluminum wheels with an added overcoat of 'sparkle silver'
paint. (Probably a clear coat as well.....)

Either Meguiers or Mothers for almost anything. Not sure about the ragtop
fabric, though.
> The car is black BTW.
If you have any black plastic or vinyl exterior trim or accessories,
Mopar's is generally terrible (most especially the smooth trim parts) and
tends to discolour easily.
This is the best I've found so far to clean it up:

Hope this helps.

Hi Skyslider,
We have been using Aerospace 303 protectant on our Wrangler tops here with
excellent results. Be aware that there is also a 303 Cleaner, don't get the
two confused. It also works well on clear vinyl windows and as a treatment
for plastic trim like dashes etc. It's a tad pricey but a bottle goes a
long long ways. You can get it on the net at several places, look for the
best price.

Thanks for all the replies guys. This the first group I've found with
some experienced regular posters. PF my interior is the usual 2 tone
pastel gray-exterior is black. I've ordered a fabric dashboard cover
partially because it looks like junk and secondly because I'm in the
desert where summer temps soar into triple digits. (105-115) in june-
july. My garage is covered but I routinely park outside around where
interior temp is 130-140. So for that reason I'm also looking to slow
down wear and tear.
We also get an occasional wind/sand storm which can and does instantly
permanently pit the paint and windshield. Auto Glass business is
robust around here because windshields do crack now and then...

I was talking about that with a friend Jeff...you are right. Early

with removable canvas roof.

OK Gotcha. I'm going to get some.
"Jethro" the local Jeep parts guy is completely clueless. Price is
secondary issue for the SS top because I don't want to think about
repairs/replacement in 5 years of summer sun/sand here in the desert.

It does help..and yea the rim is aluminum finish with the sparkle
finish...so do I use aluminum wheel cleaner...or?
I pulled up Mcquires site and they have 100 products.....
FYI or anyone wanting the SS feature-take heed. Chrysler has them back
ordered for months and dealers are doing a classic bait n' switch. If
a dealer says he can get you a basic sport model with skyslider- in a
couple days-that's likely BS. At least in SoCal anyway. then they
switch you to a sunroof instead.
One fellow asked me if I wanted to "make a bid" on one and I told him
to get lost.
I suppose he has some idiots paying 35K for a Liberty with the roof.

I'll second Mother's products. I've used "Back to Black" on my '04 TJ's
fender extensions and Mother's Plastic Polish for the windows on the
soft top.
