Manufacturers will go to great lengths to change (hide, disguise, etc) the
look of new vehicles when they are out testing them. It keeps people
guessing.

You're possibly looking at the Dodge Nitro, dang near the same thing.
You can see a picture of it in the 2nd link given in the OP under the
Jeep Liberty/Dodge Nitro heading. The 1st link in the OP shows a covered
up version with apparently a front cover for the Nitro, but you can see
the sloted grill through the mesh, particularly in the 4th photo.
