The red one looks to have the command trac transfer case. If the camo
has the selectrac that will be the deal maker. The work put in to
the camo rig to add the 411 gears and lockers to the diffs offsest
putting a crate motor under the hood.
Depend on what you want to do, but if you are going to maximize the
off road capability then it looks like the camo one is a long way
there for you. If you just want something that looks nice in the
grocery store parking lot and has modest off road capability then go
for a used Liberty...

Re: 2 XJ's on ebay - which would you choose?
Perhaps you missed the main point... the camo is an '89, the red is a '99...
further, I would rather install the upgrades myself than rely on someone
else's workmanship (Detroit Locker on D35 w/33's) not to mention, the camo
probably has more trail miles on it than the red one. Another big issue, the
camo XJ is from Michigan ("solid with new floors" should tell you
something), the Red one is from NC. The only salt NC sees is on the table at
the IHOP. I'm not shopping for an XJ, I was cruising eBay for parts and
noticed the contrast in these two ads.
