1990 wrangler idle prob
Just picked up a 1990 wrangler 4.2 5sp. When I come to a stop, the idle
remains at 2k+ if I tap the gas, it then settles down to normal. If I have
it parked and do this, it will eventually stahl. Looks like there is a
holly aftermarket carb w/maunal choke on it. Any suggestions where I should
start?
Great group,
Thanks in advance

Hi John,
A popular Holley two barrel conversion:
http://www.carburetorfactory.com/expvw18.html There is a fast idle cam
that depends on gravity to pull it off after the your mechanical choke
has been released, so it must be sticking which usually means it time
for a rebuild kit. The mechanical choke conversion is usually Mickey
Mouse, I would convert it back to an automatic electrically heated, I
don't care who you are you're going to forget the choke, that's why
they're illegal in all fifty states' SMOG for your year.
