Sweet. I'll start doing some more research tonight. Should I look for

I delivered the machine back to my b-in-law's house, where he set about
reloading McAfee Internet Security Suite, where upon completion the machine lost a race with a snail. I removed McAfee, again, and the speed is back. We'll be looking for new protection ... The odd thing is, I run McAfee and my computer runs fine. I have an HP Pavilion, he runs a Great Quality <whatever>. I suppose the difference is that the Chinese have better motherboards than the Koreans ... reloading McAfee Internet Security Suite, where upon completion the machine lost a race with a snail. I removed McAfee, again, and the speed is back. We'll be looking for new protection ... LOL! This is Linux! The packages (programs) are FREE and most everything
you'll need is included! Like I said, try MEPIS. Easy newbie centric set-up and the available base of all packages in Ubuntu. And drop by MEPIS Lovers Forum. Very helpful bunch over there. Try AVG Free ver. 7.5 for anti-virus and their free spyware program
works well. I use them both on my Windows XP drive. And you can't go wrong with AdAware and SpyBot S&D.
