[Fwd: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side..Update...

Well... 'Finally' had the MRI last week and got the results today....
:-(

I basically have had a stroke from the bounce off the door frame and
have to treat myself as a stroke victim.

No heavy work, keep the blood pressure low, etc...

No fun....

My back, ribs and neck are still really messed up and I have this damn
headache that just 'won't' go away...

Need to wear sunglasses outside, when I never have used them in the past
45 years, have issues with one hand being slow, so when I type, I do
'hte' more than I do 'the', (the neurologist has already spotted that
with a freaking stun gun and electric patches to pick up the pulses,
that was 'fun' LOL!) and have problems counting change and I was an
honors Math student, shorter tolerance fuse, etc...

What a pain in the butt!!!

Hey! I did get some 'good' news though!

I can go off roading to my heart's content!!!

Yee Haw!!!!

I am going to go and hit the local mud holes and try to get Soooo
stuck! LOL!

I'll take photos...

Hi Mike,
I'm so, so sorry. You know there's a lot of damage in order for it
show up on magnetic imaging. Did your socialist Doctor guess that and
treat you with antibiotics during the first couple weeks while your
system is cleaning out the dead tissue?

Geez... Good luck! Hurt backs SUCK. Compacted my spine mountain biking
(actually, falling OFF a mountain bike. Never mountain bike while going
through a divorce or in any sort of "I don't give a damn" state of mind) and
was in decent pain for years then just annoying. Now 100% (8 years later).

Re: [Fwd: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side..Update...

Thanks Bill and no, the clinic doctors around the corner from my house
didn't take the injuries seriously because I was still walking and
talking.

When the nerves in my chest seized up so I couldn't breath, I got taken
seriously really fast....

A CT or CAT scan showed the blood clot, so an MRI was ordered. Due to
the SARS virus here in Toronto, there was a long waiting list for non
critical cases.

They said I could have been born with the blood clot as far as the CT
scan could show, but the MRI with me on an IV of some inert element,
Gallium, I think it was to give them a blood flow contrast shows it as a
recent event.

Man oh man, my roommate who was driving owned an 85 CJ7, he had traded
it to an old boss for a few days and some cash in his pocket... It was
a Saturn....

If he had of had the CJ, the damn Honda would have just gone under it,
not nailed me....

Sorry to hear about the crash. Accidents Suck. I know I don't compare to
what you're dealing with, but I'm currently suffering from a couple back
ribs out of place. I can rotate my right shoulder and can hear them click
around in the back. It's a work thing. I got wrenched out of place about
two months ago. My pain/ discomfort didn't set in until about a week after
we were doing some heavy lifting etc. at work. of course there were stairs
invloved. Anyways, to try and justisfy it as a work accident would be
foolish. In my economy here in Vail I'd be on the street. It's an
(employment at will) State.

Take care my friend!

Dang Mike, I'm really sorry to read of the damage that a$$hole caused when
he t-boned you. I hope you get healed up and back in business real soon,
that stroke news was stunning. The impact must have been really severe to
knock something loose inside you to where it caused the stroke. Get well
soon man!!!!!

Re: [Fwd: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side.. Update...

Oh Mike, I am so sorry to hear this! Its shocking to find out that you had/have that
much damage. At least they are not trying to keep you from wheeling any more. That
much is good. You can go out and try to enjoy life again.

Yes, arent the neurological tests fun <shudder>. I went thru that with my left
hand/arm one time...

Hang in there, some of the issues may work them selves out or to a reasonable level.
That headache is worrysome tho. Have you thought of trying a chiropracter? It
sounds like something in your back is out of line.

Hang in there, and work on getting yourself better!
Dont forget to post the pics when you get back! =)

Thanks, and yes, my back and neck are a mess. I have been going in for
physiotherapy and chiropractic work every day all summer.

Re: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side.. Update...

Thanks guys.

We did get hit pretty hard. The Honda that hit us needed a tow truck,
his front end was caved in.

It could be worse, I am still walking and talking at least.

Kind of a drag when the doctors are telling me it's time to get a lawyer
though...

I was hoping to just get back to work sooner than later, but they are
saying no way and are talking long term.

Re: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side.. Update...

Thanks Paul.

The seat belt popped a couple of my ribs out of place, man I think they
hurt worse than anything else. Not broken, just not where they are
supposed to be...

Ribs sure take a long time to heal.

Hi Mike,
I remember the Doctor telling me while rapping my ribs with ace
bandage that it takes three months to heal with a Doctor's help, or
ninety days without. I thought I was going to die about three days after
the accident, it hurt sooo bad.

Re: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side.. Update...

Hi Mike,
I remember the Doctor telling me while rapping my ribs with ace
bandage that it takes three months to heal with a Doctor's help, or
ninety days without. I thought I was going to die about three days after
the accident, it hurt sooo bad.

Re: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side.. Update...

That is basically what he told me too, almost in the same words. LOL!
Then I just had to go and lose a brake pad with one seized lug nut on
the wheel my wife had to take off, so I went for it...

Broke the cross bar wrench trying to get it off... That was a painful
error, but being on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere didn't
give me much choice....

Mike,

Well, as a lurker I have been reading the posts in the group for quite some
time and appreciate all posts that you have passed along.

Sorry to hear about the accident. It kinda puts having a crummy day at work
in a different light. I hope your recovery goes quickly and in the mean
time you are able to take your mind off of things in the Jeep.

Cheers!

Re: OT: Crap, I was a passenger in a T-bone hit, on my side.. Update...

Thanks.

I went off roading over Labor Day in our Cherokee (the soft ride) on a
camping trip and it did my back good, really good. My 'head' too,
getting out of the house was really relaxing. I only use the lap belt
when off road because our trails are too twisty for a shoulder belt, it
can hurt, and the moving around exercise was literally 'just what the
doctor ordered'.

Same for posting here. The neurologist told me to get on the computer
and exercise my brain after he saw the CT scan results. I see him again
in a couple weeks with the MRI results in.

Now if the damn insurance would finally start paying me my weekly
cheque, I will have the money for gas to go out lots.

Hi Mike; I sure am sorry to here about all your troubles. It sure seems
that at times when it does rain that it sure can pore. I sure do know the
pain thing with my knees being full of arthritis. I can't sit to long and
can't stand to long. But you are in the pain zone with practically your
whole body. I can't even imagine what your going thru. I have been in a
couple of serious accidents and have been so dang lucky that it scares the
hell out of me to think about it some times. Mike I sure hope that you just
keep pushing back and don't give up. Thing's do have a way of working out
most of the time so hang in there. 86" Cj's for ever man. Your a great
help on here so stayed tuned in.

LOL! Naw a Cherokee with steel lug nuts on aluminum rims...

I then bent an L wrench. I then used the broken arm of the 4 way and
put it on the nut and pounded on it big time with my axe.

Then I borrowed another L wrench and a high lift jack handle and got the
bugger off.

I was gonna say, that's an old truck-tire changing trick...
put the 4-way on the lug, have someone that trusts you
hold it, and whang the end of it with a hammer. Better
to set the end of the 4-way on a jackstand.

I still think that the stud should have broken before the wrench...
was it one of those chrome 4-ways?

A snapped stud would have suited me just fine at that point...

That's not the first one I have snapped, I have a couple more three
armed ones around and this last one already was a three arm, snapped the
other arm on something else.

This one was a cheap chrome one, but the others are steel.

I am 6'4" and about 200 lb, so when I lever on something, something is
going to give usually. LOL, hopefully the bolt, not the wrench or
me... My 1 year old 'lifetime' warranty 1/2" power bar is on it's 3rd
head and I have never used a pipe on it even.
