Rims Flaking

Rims Flaking
I have a 2007 (95,000 km) Liberty Rocky Mountain with 17 inch chrome clad rims. I've noticed that the chrome is flaking off the corners of the rims. Pretty large flakes at that. All five rims have this problem. My question is - 1. Does anyone else have this problem? , and 2. Will the warranty cover this? It seems to be more than just wear and tear but rather a defect in the way chrome has adhered to the rim. Much like if the paint were to start flaking off the truck. Any input would be great. I plan to call Chrysler on Tuesday.

Re: Rims Flaking
I know that they have problems with the clearcoat coming off but wouldn'tsurprize me if the crome did the same thing. I would start with the dealer and see what they have to say first.

Re: Rims Flaking
Ya I also have the same rims. They are not the best. The salt also will cause black pitting spots as they get eaten away eventually (ask me how I know)
Just keep em clean (wheel cleaner) and use a spray can of "Trem Clad clear coat" before each winter.
It really will help to protect them.

Had the same problem with ours (04 Liberty), and they did warranty them, but we did it early, not sure if they'll do it at 95k. We never did install the new ones, so if you want to buy a new set, I have em still in the box! ;o)
