for dealer servicing that car!
Don't get me wrong, the fuel economy is excellent but the maintenance costs are stupid!
Three of my uncles over seas also say the same thing about their diesels!
So do my buddies who work for Ford and Chrysler.

I've owned many diesels and other than oil, lube and filters, there is virtually no maintenance on a diesel. The liberty diesel uses Mobil synthetic so an oil change is pricy. Maybe $125. But you can go double the interval to say 12000 km between changes depending on your driving style. No need to go to the dealer to do maintenance. They are crooks. That's why we call them the stealership lol. The only thing I did to mine was the timing belt at 130K and when it came out, it was like new. Didn't really need changing. So I don't really agree with you.
