I have a 2008 mitsubishi outlander LS 23 000 ( piece of sh*te Lemon to me ),
and i will be interest for a 2005 Liberty CRD Diesel with 150 000 km !!!!!
Are that will be a good thing to do ???
My problem, i have 33 000 $ to pay at the bank, and i have have that car for 11 000 so that will lower my montly payment, but it will be a good trade ???? 150 000 km is not too much ?
Im just scare to trade and i need to change half of the piece on the car.
I heard also that diesel is more Expensif to fix ?
If that engine die how much will cost to change it ?
thanks for you help

Wow. That is a handful. Sell privately your outlander, get the most to pay your bank back, don't let the dealer rip you off.
What year of liberty CRD are you looking at with 150,00 km??
Personally, unless I was constantly towing something, I would stick with a gas motor. They are good reliable engines.
The diesel's well that is another story. The cost to replace a diesel motor is really high for a new one about $16,000? SO rebuilding is the only option once you own CRD. Maintenance is higher and if something does go wrong, since the warranty is over.....$$$ ouch..turbo...$$ plus..plus...$$

Default 2005 CRD diesel Libby

In 2005 the Liberty sold about 10,000 units. It was the first year of this engine. I am sure that there was some changes in 06 as there was some TSB and customers complaints of tranny lock up and other related problems.

You can search out in google "2005 CRD engine reliability"

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=132570

you will have to paste that as my insert links are not working with firefox not sure why that is.
Best o Luck...

I would say .. even though it's tempting ... and if you really want the diesel .... wait until you find one with fewer km's. There are lots of good deals to be had as the 05's are just coming off lease. As a comparison I just paid less than 12k for a beautifully kept, loaded Renegade with 50k. Look for a dealer that hits the Chrysler auctions they have some awesome deals!

Good Luck,
Luke

I noticed some weird firefox behavior on the forum too!

Default CRD uh....maybe not....

I would agree that prices are a dropping for SUV`S and some great deals can be found for low k vehicles.
Keep looking for low k`s maybe without the diesel.....

I found this tonight : read this !!

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=615221

Catch the dripping oil...wonder what they really look like inside at 150,00km ,

wow can`t type a question mark or insert a link with firefox whats happening here...

Huh....and just where do you get your data from there mister? Diesels are more expensive to produce but are more fuel effecient, tow better and last much MUCH MUCH longer than gas engines. Also, their prescribed maintenance intervals are further apart so maintenance costs are LOWER, not higher. And as for $16,000 for a new engine if you run really really fast you might just catch up the the turnip cart you just fell off of. The real figure (as listed on a work order from a dealership) was $5278.98 on a replacement motor for a unit that was run without oil.

Don't believe me? Ask yourself why, then, every city bus, dump truck and highway tractor, farm tractor and backhoe run diesels....it's not for the lovely sound they make.....they cost less to operate over the long term.

Oh, and on engines that routinely run over a million klicks before an in-frame rebuild, 150,000 klicks is not excessive milage. These engines are made in Italy and have been in service in other vehicles in the EU for a number of years now.

I do agree with some things you said: the gas engines are all well built and reliable. Sell the Outlander privately.....good idea.

You are lucky!
A good friend of mine actually assembles Jeeps on the line in Detroit and has owned a KJ CRD and tells me to stay away from them, they cost way to much in maintenance!

I see it in my parents Diesel VW Jetta. It is almost criminal as too how much they have paid
for dealer servicing that car!
Don't get me wrong, the fuel economy is excellent but the maintenance costs are stupid!
Three of my uncles over seas also say the same thing about their diesels!
So do my buddies who work for Ford and Chrysler.
