2004 Liberty 45/70 top speed after sitting unused
Hi,
I am posting this for a friend and so hope that I can give enough second-hand info to explain the situation.
His 04 Liberty has long had a problem where if it sat unused for a length of time, for a couple of days it would not be able to get above 45mph/70kmph top speed.
Unfortunately after parking it for the winter - about 6 months unused - this problem has recurred and it isn't going away.
Is this a common problem with these vehicles? Any suggestions for diagnosing/fixing it?
Many thanks

Figuring its got injectors, try pickup on a can of injector cleaner and putting that in the gas, it cud be more than this but its not going to hurt and run ard as cud be gummed up injector nozzles. You mite need to do this on 2 tanks fulls. I use Cdn Tire brand.

A little bit of additional info:
Also, while sitting at idle, the motor will rev itself up, slow down, settle at normal idle, then do it all again.
??
Still waiting to hear if the injector cleaner helps...

Unfortunately the cleaner seems not to be helping. :( Any other suggestions? Someone suggested it could be the throttle body needing cleaning or possibly obstructed exhaust. Do either of those suggestions make sense to your good selves?
Thanks again
