Default Viper 5901 Alarm/Starter

Hey guys,

Ive read countless posts on this forum and others regarding the great "lock or unlocked" debate for softtop jeeps like mine. The more I read, the more I got freaked out, mind you most of the horrible stories seemed to take place in pretty large cities. I planned on putting in a remote start to my new jeep but after much reading, figured I'd pay the little extra and get the starter/alarm combo. This is what I got, and it will be installed on Monday;

I realize this won't stop the uber determined thief but it hopefully will be enough to make the semi-lazy ones move on to another vehicle. I guess it's the same logic as my house alarm. The thought of leaving my doors unlocked doesnt sit well with me as the majority of car thiefs that i'd likely encounter would be the ones walking through a bestbuy parking lot checking door handles. If mine was locked and started screaming, i'd hope they would just move on at this point.

I've read a few posts where people have left theirs unlocked, hoping to minimize the risk of someone slashing their top, only to have it happen anyway because people didnt want to open the doors. Terrible!

So, my plan, have an alarm, doors locked, nothing of value left in the car... and I'll try to keep it parked in visible unsketchy places whenever possible. We'll see how it goes. Ive never had to worry about this with any other vehicle

Anyway, I'll post here on how I find the alarm once it's in, incase someone else out there is considering something like it.

Cheers,
