i just picked up my 2010 Unlimited Rubicon. Gorgeous Mango Tango color. it has a 6 spd in it. my preference for wheelin' would be the automatic. you just can't beat the automatic over a stick. Think of it this way, if you push the clutch in, your tires stop spinning and you lose your traction. i've been stuck knee deep in stuff and with an auto you can rock between reverse and drive to gain momentum. With a stick, you have to eye ball up the trail and pick your gear and stay in it, if traction is a concern that is.
i'm sure it'll be a never ending debate, but i've spent my whole life wheelin' and so far the auto is superior, but for everyday driving, the stick is much more 'Jeep' like and makes you remember why you bought a sports vehicle in the first place. (until you try to eat a sub and drive at the same time that is!!!) |

By the way.. deal it out!!! i got mine for $31,500 + txs with the tow pkg, dual tops and leather. Of course that included the Chrysler incentives..downside.. had to wait 3 months before it was delivered!!

X3!!! Picked the "Rubi" up today. Sorry no pics yet...having too much of a hoot driving it.
Got the auto cuz...it won't jump out of gear, better for mud and snow...and the #1 reason...I shift a 13 spd all week and that's enough. Asked the dealer if a tranny cooler would void the warranty and he said no so that will be a mod. Yes ladies and gentlemen...let the modifications begin! |
