What head unit is your radio, ie RER, RES? you may only need a cheaper cable that you can get from your dealer for about 55 bucks CDN.

If its RER you only need 82211743AB

Looks like your original solution will work. Best bet is from US.

i also been looking at prices for the RER, i debating on the best option. should i buy the kit or buy the RER. if i buy the RER all i need is the Mic right ?

I have the RER and you only need the mic cable and to activate it in the engineering mode. (Press Menu/Seek Up/Seek Down at the same time) and activate Enable VR JK/HFM.

RER radio is about $1900.00 but includes nav.

NAV updates are $199 US each year.

I had the RES and installed the RBZ (touch screen, 30 gig hdd, no nav), $350 from the US. Got a quote from the dealer for the uconnect module including the mic (part no. 82211878) for $270. So around $700, my $100 Garmin does the rest. Way cheaper this way.
