Tire Question, Plus winter Tire Question.

I know its early to talk about a winter tire set up But here goes anyways.

I have the Altitude 18" rims that im thinking about adding nice summer tires, So the first question is,
What tires on a Factory suspension.

The next Question is, The tires that are coming on the Wrangler, Will they be good enough for winter Or should i look into Winter tires.

You will need winter tires to be safe..

Whats a Good Winter Size. I know with all the Sportcompact i drove, The skinnyer the better, Does this aply with Jeeps too?

rule of thumb is to got down one tire size from stock (if you're just driving it on roads and not off roading). Therefore you would need to go from a 18 to a 17. The most important thing is the flex in the side wall....skinnier may not be the best thing.

However, that being said....from what i've heard....stock all seasons should be good enough, depending on how much snow you want to go through. Here in the city/mall....i think all seasons are good enough.

What compact did you come from?

Selling my 2000 Ford Focus ZX3.
I will miss it though.
It will be hard not being able to lay rubber everywhere, Or Hit the track for some slip times.

Acton Gets ALOT more snow then Most of the GTA area.

Good post, I have done a lot of tire shopping and most of the tire places tell me what is on there now ( Bridgestone Dueler A/T RH-S) are a good tire for winter and everyday use but not for hard offroading. Other tires they recommended were Hankook dynapro at-m for winter and some offroad use aswell as most goodyear tires such as the duratrac however I was price quoted at $1700 for four tires of that type so it is pricey at 18". I have the altitude aswell.

Ill be taking the 18"s off And running Steel rims.
But the age old question still sits infront of me...
Skinner tire for cutting, Or Wide tire for sitting on top.

my opinion....17's and get rubber with the same rolling diameter and width. Therefore, not skinnier nor fatter.

As for your Focus and track times....I also miss track days. 1/4 mile....best time i ever got was high 17's (really slow)....but I also miss those AutoX days.

Never Auto-X But best slip was a 15.2 Only bolt-ons No Bottle.
