Default Thinking of my first jeep

Hi everyone, as I'm really thinking of buying my first ever jeep i thought I would check this site for some good advise.
I've always loved the looks and reputations of the jeep.I have never driven one but I know deep down I want one. I love the outdoors and would love to cruise around with the top off in the summers. So to start my quest for the right jeep,I knew I wanted white so I started looking for a newer white one and am finding they are next to impossible to find. I decided I want new, so I finally got up the nerve to check what the local dealer had. And wow, they have an all white 2011 sahara 4 door on order. It is an auto with quite a few options and they are all what I want.
My questions are will this truck put an everlasting smile on my face????????
What kind of fuel mileage can I honestly get? I hope to have it for a long time,so also how will it handle a family?
Your advise will help me make my decision.
Oh ya and by the looks of it I will have to start waving to other jeep owners. I love to wave!!
Thanks everyone!

Jeeps are not for everybody. Newer models have pretty smooth ride compared to older models. Reliability wise they are hard to beat. I run 5 of them in my company fleet and they are fantastic as far as vehicle reliability. A 2dr is great for off roading but 4dr best choice if considering it as a family vehicle. Climbing in and out of 2dr back seat is no fun. Gas mileage is getting better on newer models. If gas costs are an issue DO NOT buy a Rubicon for daily driving. Selling a used one has never been an issue, they sell fast.

Gas mileage in any wrangler will not be very good. Think full size truck, and thats about what you can expect. We got a 2 door, as that is what my wife wanted. The jeep suites our needs, as our girls are in their teens now.
We dont plan to wheel much, but may need to do some in order to get to where we want to hike or ski. Get the right vehicle for your needs, gas mileages is one you can put a red x on.
And yes, you will have a permasmile on your face. The jeep wrangler drives different than most vehicles. I can't wait to put the soft top on in the summer.

I've had mine for 4 months now.
The smile is perminent, when feeling down, look out the window in the driveway, and Voila. Smile.
Gas mileage, i'll say like Wired up, think big.

i have a 2 door 2010 Mountain Edition and i get approx 20 mpg. i've gotten 17 and i've gotten 22, so avereage is 20. i drive 110 km's a day on highway.

hope this helps.

I own a 2010 4-door rubicon. LOVES IT! I get about 13 liters/100km highway, and about 16 liters/100km city. If you are gonna use the Wrangler, providing thats what your buying, for what its meant to do, go offroad, Rubicon is the way to go. I usually offroad in 4 low. If i get into trouble i lock the differencials and usually get out of it. But if you wanna just get somewhere offroad to ski or hike, base or Sahara would be fine. You will be comprimising your on road handling because they are built with offroad in mind first off. Theres no other rig like it, even base they're amazing. My wife will always have a car, I will always have my Rubi!

SOLD!

SInce then this Jeep as been a pleasure to own. First time you go topless you smile, kick it up another knoch and your topless and doorless with the tunes up....perma-grin! Driving like this has put years back on my life, it makes you feel like a teen again.

You get complete strangers comment on your Jeep, all ages...from 4 years to 94. It's a way of life, we all wave to one another, no other ride like it.

Test drive it many times, get a really good feel, they are not for everyone, you either fall in love or you don't....

20 to 22MPG is possible on the highway in a 4DR with auto, soft top, 3:73 gearing....just go easy on the skinny pedel....driving hard will eat more gas.

I'm shopping for another,,,this one is my wifes daily driver....I have visitation on the week-ends.
Love it would not drive anything else.
Good luck

I bought my Sahara 2 year ago now. I love it :) Like everyone else has said, driving with the top down and doors off with the music blasting in the summer is the best feeling in the world. I am topless for pretty much the whole summer, I got the interior bedlined and threw on some neoprene seat covers so shes good to go rain or shine. I got addicted to wheelin the damn thing though and put a lot of money into it last year, but I love it even more now and get even more comments on it. Being a girl wheelin with all the guys is a ton of fun too :) Test drive it a lot, be sure its what you want. The 4 doors are def better if you have a family, I took the back seat out of mine the 2nd week I had it because they are useless in a 2 door. Good luck and Happy Shopping!

Thanks everyone for all the comments and advise, it really helps! Ever since I was a little girl I knew I always wanted a truck or something more adverntous than a car. I think a jeep fits my taste, after putting a lift, bigger wheels and some nice shinny rims I will feel like a million bucks! My friend owns a jeep wrangler and he is going to let me drive it this weekend, I'm stoked! I realize that it might not be the best on gas but sounds like it is totally worth it. Anyways thanks and I can't wait to be a jeep owner like all ya'll!! :)

Hey Jenna,

Nice transformation seen some on your pixs!!
When you say topless all summer do you leave the top down ALL the time? I park in the driveway and if the weather is good I will leave the top up, but not put the side and rear window on...less fuss in the AM.Never considered the entire top down all the time...hmmm Good idea on the seat covers, hope this isn't sounding like a dumb question,
