Default Soft Tops

I chose not to get the soft top from the dealer because a) $1200 is too much for a soft top and b) I'm not a huge fan of how it opens.

I'd like to know if anyone has any aftermarket tops and their opinions on them.

I'm looking at Bestop Trektop however just saw today there is a TrekTop NX

TrekTop NX

It looks like the back is different from the regular TrekTop

TrekTop

This would be for my Orange Crush Sahara Unlimited. Has anyone seen this in tan?

Also looking at this one but would like the whole top for security sake (yes, I know it's only a zipper but that's usually enough).

I have a trektop NX. It looks great, is easy to remove and put back on, and it leaks. There are small leaks at the side windows and sometime at the seal between the gate and the top. Nothing major but enough that I make sure not to leave wettable stuff like paper within range of the droplets.

Is the leaking from poor fitment? Or the material's lack of waterproofness?

It's the fitment. The material is fine. I just can't seem to get the side window panels to fit into the channels - it's alright in the parking lot but has a spray mist coming in once I get up to highway speed on a rainy day. The gate drip is because the rubber gasket doesn't always seal perfectly when you pull down the rear panel. I always am extra careful on rainy days, but I still get a bit of leaking.

I wonder if other peeps has the same problem with aftermarket soft top? Please post if you do so. I almost bought a Bestop recently. I might reconsider...

Ok...every soft top has its share of BS. U eventually become an expert at using it.

I have the trektop. I want the NX here are differences

Trektop
- rolls back all the way
-only back window comes out
-door surrounds are tubes won't be able to use half or full soft doors
- ***** that screw in on the channels not factory style latches
- doesn't come with the top props (I made my own)

NX
- flips back like a sunrider
- back window and side windows come out
-latches to secure instead of the *****
- door surrounds are factory style

I'm selling my trektop. If yore interested

I've got an opportunity to buy a mopar soft top for my 2012 Sahara for a damned good price. The top is from a 2009.

I understand it should fit but I heard Jeep improved the design on the 2012 soft tops.

Question is - what (if any) were those improvements/ changes?

The 09 has different door surrounds. If you get the top you will need the rest of the 09 softtop hardware as well..
Door surrounds and wing nuts..

I'm aware that I would need the surrounds - those were actually included with the top.

My question was moreso because I heard that the 2007-2009 Wrangler Unlimited soft tops were very cumbersome and that some physical improvements were made to them.
