Canada Sahara 2012 lifting needed?

Hello

I choose Tires 285x70x17 and Wheels 17x9 with 5 back space
Do I need to do lifting for my Sahara 2012, 4 doors. In one jeeps shop I was told
that if I do offroading I need to have 2" lifting but in another jeep shop that lifting is not needed for this wheels/tires sizes

Thank you for your help

Greg

Taking a look at the calculation on this site these are 33x12.5r17 which are not actually that size they come out to roughly a 32.5 or sometimes 32.8 so yu save a little space wise there too. I don't have a 2012 jk but I've heard enuff that they will fit without a lift as even being stock they are higher than the TJ If you decide later on to put on 35's (whatever the metric calculation is) it might be advisable to put a lift on it to give yu that extra spacing.

I calculate the tyre size as slightly smaller than that so you should be fine regarding the stock suspension height, don't know about the five inch backspacing though.

Now I cannot speak for a 4dr, which will likely have a stiffer suspension, but I ran 285/70-16's on my stock 2011 with 4.5 back spacing and never hit anything. I later swap out the stock springs for ones outta a 4dr for a little more lift. I put the same rim and tire combo on my 2015 Rubi, this time going with 17 X 9 rims and again there have been no rubbing issue. Crunched the rear sway bar into the exhaust pipe but the rubber never touched!

Thank you Topbanana, I believe I will go with 285/70-17 with 17x9 and do lifting if needed...
