Rust proof treatment

Re: Rust proof treatment
Since I used Metropolitan Rustproofing for the last 16 years with good results I was to go there, but I looked at Krown as well. Lots of good comments for Krown and APA reccomended.
There is a Krown dealer at 2km away from home, charging 15$ more than Metropolitan Rustproofing but it would cost me 15$ of gas going to Metropolitain.
So I booked at Krown for Monday, I will see if there is any différences in between both.

Re: Rust proof treatment
Coming back from my appointment, I'm pretty happy, they did a good job and their stuff is sticky, so it is not dropping, I can park already in my driveway.
They also gave me a can of silicone spray to apply on all my rubber seals.

Re: Rust proof treatment
I was thinking about going to Krone to get mine done. But I was thinking do I really need it? I mean next year ya, but I just got it in March. Do I really need to start this year or will it be ok for one season?

Re: Rust proof treatment
I think the first year is the most important. Get the rustproofing into the crevices before the salt brine gets in there. This year, I bought an undercoating gun, and a 20 litre pail of rustproofing, and did it myself. I took the rear bumper off, sprayed up through the frame channels and cross members. Removed the tail lights, and soaked it inside the quarters (used the three foot wand) . Made sure to get all the steel brake lines etc. I didn't drill the doors, just sprayed them through the drip holes with the specific adapter for doing that. I used about half of the pail, and was really satisfied with the results.

Re: Rust proof treatment
What type of rustproofing product did you use? I've used the rubberized stuff Canadian Tire sells but i find it peels off with time.I also used old motor oil and sprayed it on my 2003 TJ but it can get quite messy and i have to wait until spring to see if the effort was worth it

Re: Rust proof treatment
That's the important part, how concenciously they apply it. I liked the service I got from Krown here as well. He also did try to find already available holes to minimise the drilling. All in all he did drill holes in 6 places, how about you ?
