A buddy of mine did it. Never had an issue. Course he has a real issue with rattlecans though.

Re: REVERSING tires on 2012 - SPRAY PAINTING!!!

OK...I actually remember spray-painting tires on a car I owned a LONG, LONG time ago...

It was a 1974 Ford Maverick - 2-door (NOT 4X4!!)...with a 302 V8...rusted to heck...I had the inner door panels attached to the outer ones with bits of threaded rod, nuts and washers and Bondo covering the mess on the outside...!!

It was pretty quick, but didn't handle at ALL...and the tires?...Well, let's just say I had several brands of tire on it - at one time!!! So, to make them look new...and partially obliterate the lettering...I did indeed spray the tires...with flat-black Tremclad (as I think it was)...didn't seem to do the rubber any harm...

In fact, the car was originally a ghastly ORANGE colour with a green interior (really!)...and so, as the rust ------, I finally gave up on touching up the orange...and one day, I bought about 10 MORE cans of Tremclad flat black...and painted the whole damn car.

Somewhere I have a picture of it...absolutely HIDEOUS. But, it could keep up with a basic Camaro RS or a Mustang 302...(at least in a straight line!)

That was when I was MUCH, MUCH younger.

At least...30 years ago!!!

Now, I've graduated to Jeep.

I wouldn't call white letter tires free advertising. Can't see anyone going out of there way to search that tire out.
But realistically though, for what you're spending on the new rig, it wouldn't hurt your dealer to swap them around for you. Personally I would rather the dealer just put a better tire on for me to start with. The factory tires are not good in the snow..

Are they that bad in the snow?

I won't run them in the winter again.

I've Run ProComp Xtreme M/Ts (60,000 klm), GY Duratracs (1 winter), and at the moment we have 2 Jeeps and one pickup on PitBull Rocker Radials. Not sure how the Rockers will be on icey roads but they are awesome in snow. For the average guy I suggests the Duratracs.

I ran them last year on my 11 JKU and felt they worked fine. I took the 35" KM2's off and am running them again this winter.

They are not Duratrac's I'll agree...But not that bad...Of course opinions are like a certain exit point we all have.

Back to the OP's original question, there is no reason they can't be remounted with white letters in. If the dealer won't do it for you I'm sure any tire shop will do it for under
$75.00 (5 tires remounted and balanced).

I ran the stock Bridgestones for 1/2 a winter, my daughter ran them all last winter on here Jeep and they are OK for slick roads but once you start getting snow they aren't much good. Had to pull mine out the snow the first week I had it. had to pull my daughter out last year. If you live in town you'll be alright with them. We live in the country and many times break trail on the way in to town..
