Q's while waiting
A couple of things I did not ask/check out at the dealer.
1) although the sales rep and literature all suggest 87 octane fuel, is there any advantage to using premium?
2) I can almost guarantee the sound system is far better than my current vehicle, but how good is the sound system in the '12 wrangler unlimimited. I have the 730N upgrade. I have never upgraded a car stereo so I am not expecting premium sound. That said I have also never had a subwoofer in my vehicles so I am looking forward to hearing Bon Scott belt it out. I must say I am a little confused by the location of the subwoofer. It seems to take up a lot of useful space.

The 2012 comes with Infinity sound system including 8 inch sub in the back and tweeters in front. I thought about switching before I bought the Jeep, finally that I have it, I will stick with it. It is better than I imagined and very happy with sound quality and power. It is way enough to break your ears and it's crispy clean!
Stick with the regular fuel, the higher octane fuel can cause pinging in engines not designed for it.
You should always use the fuel recommended by the manufacturer.
As for the stereo, only time will tell. Don't even worry about switching it out until you hear it. I've already decided I'm going to keep it(430N) in unless it sounds like absolute crap.
I do have plans to lock pick it...I really want to watch DVD's while driving...kidding on the DVD thing, but there are many other reasons to lock pick it.

I ordered some new speakers after having the panels off, figured an upgrade can't hurt as overall the sound to me is a bit "bland". Best bet is crutchfield.ca operations from the USA which has a car filter and will allow you to select speakers, stereos etc. that will fit in your particular car. Very vey useful that plus they're top notch. Nothing at the usual suspects (future shop, best buy etc.), indicate if it will fit and ones that do via these tools, they don't carry them. Bought a pair which has good reviews for 100 dollars and comes with all parts and connections free from crutchfield. Ships out of a warehouse in Mississauga and free shipping etc, so no importing from the US. Have a look at their site and input your model year to see what works with the jeep. Don't think i will bother with a new head unit though, also got the basic system but with infinity. Hopefully the new sound bar speakers will improve it enough not to bother with anything else. Can't really see spending more tha 100-150 to upgrade anymore for just that.
should add, also going to polyfill the new ones once put in.

First, there is no benefit of running any fuel higher than 87 octane unless you are programming the engine for a different octane rating.
As for the stereo I also have the upgraded system. With the hard top on it actually sounded pretty decent although the sub is rather lame when it comes to subs. They should have at least put a single 10 in the back. As for the sub location, the rear of the cab is always the preferred location. Now that I have the soft top on most of the base is gone. No big deal though since all I really hear is the wind blowing against my ears while driving down the highway :)
