Re: oil vanishing

I'm amazed when I hear these stories....Yes I work in the auto service industry.

I don't understand when dealers don't tackle these problems. They are paid by the manufacturer to perform the repairs. Warranty labour times do not pay as well customer pay times, but none the less it is work that pays!

1L of oil every 1000kms.....Maybe if you drive the living hell out of the vehicle!

Normal accepted level is about 1L every 3200kms (2000 miles). I can understand any dealer wanting to verify the oil consumption (Warranty loves documentation).

Do an oil change (At the dealer) and drive in there every 1000kms and have them check it (Make sure it is documented on a work order). After 2 visits where they've added a litre each time, on the third visit repairs/replacement should be done.

Yes, it may seem like a lengthy process. On my end this has also proven to customers that their vehicle is not consuming oil and has saved in my case GM big $$$. It has also proven to GM when a repair/replacement is required.

Try switching to 5W30 on your next oil change. This worked for my 08 JKU when I started to consume about 1.5L every 5k km's when I hit 60k km on the odometer. Since the switch I have next to nothing for consumption. If that does not work then try replacing your PCV valve.
