oil change notification

oil change
My wrangler has 4302 km but has many months under its hood and due to a serious illness i was unable until today to get the oil change done and i did at 4302 (purchased april 2010)
Dealership said it was no problem .
I also had the tires air evacuated and nitrogen replaced as when i bought they said the nitrogen was free and if i had to add air they would fix it it back to nitrogen.
They also did a rapid response---update on the O2 sensor(sort of like a recall)
So i'm all fixed up and ready to roll and after a near death experience i am glad to be back driving the wrangler (my motorcycle/atv/snowmobile)

Re: oil change notification
The way I see it, the more advanced these engines get, the more they require close monitoring and upkeep. I was amazed to learn that they require a very light grade and no wonder I was changing mine three or even four times per year. These machines aren't any longer the rough tough ****** they once were.

Re: oil change notification
Just did my 3rd oil change(18,000km) and decided to go synthetic.. don't know if I'm halucinating but it seems much smoother. If you offroad on a regular basis, its not a bad choice. I would still change it at the 6000km mark as I find 10,000 a little extreme, even for a synthetic. Based on a lot of reviews it seems like Amsoil is the best synthetic out there but costs 2 arms and a leg. Penzoil is in the top 3 and is prob the best bang for your buck. Oh, i never follow that damn reminder as i honestly don't trust it. I changed my oil the 1st time at close to 8000km and it still hadn't gone off.

Re: oil change notification
One other thing that bugs me......Did you notice the location of the drain bung? Without some sort of vacuum device, how can all that contaminated oil that is left in the bottom of the pan be drained?
