Canada Looking for opinions

I recently purchased a 2013 Grand Cherokee for my wife and she loves it. I am thinking of trading in my 2012 Ram 1500 for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler sport as I love the look of the Jeep but I would take quite a big loss on the tradein. After reading bad reviews about winter driving with the Wrangler is it really that bad. Also what's the preference of Jeep drivers, Manual or automatic. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you can find a buyer for your truck yourself, you can run the sale through the dealer you are purchasing your new vehicle from. You get the tax savings on your old vehicle, like a trade. The other benefit it you can negotiate your purchase price with the dealer, instead of them going off msrp when they normally take a trade in. The benefit to the potential buyer of your old truck is, he is assured of getting a lean free vehicle because he is actually buying it from the dealer, not you. He would have pay tax on the purchase anyway, so it doesn't cost him more.

I'm on my 4th wrangler . 2 were older 2 doors, the other 2 were 4 doors. I never had an issue at all with winter driving. In fact, I chose to drive the wrangler more than our other vehicle, because of the control I had with it. I usually pick up a set of oem jeep rims off kijiji, and put snow tires on them. That really helps.(and keeps the "look")
As far as std vs auto for resale, just remember everyone can drive an auto, manual limits your potential buyers.

Thanks for the info. I was able to get a much better deal on a wrangler sport so I made the deal. Decided to get the manual 6 speed. Have to wait 2 weeks for delivery from factory. Very excited.

Manual for sure! Much more fun to drive! But it's driver preference there really. And I have 35" tires now (got my 2012 4 door last fall) but I will put my OEM 32" tires & rims back on just before the snow hits (so Dec - early April). I drove last winter with the factory wheels and had absolutely no problems in the snow . . . tons of control and rarely needed to put it into 4x4 in the snow.

Ndrisc: Once you have your jeep, post some pics. I'd interested in what you picked out. I drive a (new to me) 2001 TJ 4.0 standard (60th An. Ed.) and I really love it. I'm not so prone to newer jeeps but that just me :)
