Default Leaking Soft Top

So another separate issue to the MIL on the dash board....

My soft top is leaking.

2007 Jeep Wrangler X

Bought it with only a soft top. I don't know if I put it on wrong but after the first time I took off the top and put it back on, it leaked. But it didn't rain between the time I bought it and the first time I took the top off, so I don't know if there was already a problem with leaking.

This weekend I took the top off again and paid close attention to every step (even watched a video about how to put the top back on properly).

Rained today, leaked today :)

It's coming in on both the passenger side and driver's side in the same spot near the windsheild.

Any idea what's going on? Do I have it on wrong or is there something else wrong?

Thanks in advance.

my guess is something isn't on right, but you could just have a faulty top. In my experience the dealer has no clue how the tops work either. So your best bet is to meet up with another JK owner for tips/ help. Paris is out near hamilton kinda isnt it? There is a meet and greet in hamilton every week. Stop on over at JeepKings.ca most guys on there are from the hamilton area even though its a canada wide site, they have a meet and greet section where you can find out info on the next hamilton one; or just post another thread over there, Im sure the guys will have lots of ideas. If I were you I would cruise out to the coffee night or wing night and talk to the guys. I know all of them, great guys, very helpful! Jeeping is a community thing :) you just gotta expand your community :) Hope this helps, wish I was closer to have a look.

Hey! If you are in Woodstock way, take a pit stop @ Dubois Honda..(I work in the back shop) I drive a Rubicon unlimited and I can try and give you a hand! Haven't had my soft top on yet but we can see what's going on!

Cheers,
Ryan

Oh wow! I might just do that, I take a drive to Woodstock sometimes it's only a half hour away. I'll keep that in mind for sure!

Thanks!

This site may help you...

Based on your post, it sounds like the soft top is not sitting in the plastic rail of the window frame correctly.

On my 08' I put the top up, but don't clamp the two front clips that re inside the Jeep above the windshield. I pull on the platsic rails on the soft top from the front driver side working my way back, then repeat on the passanger side....the very last thing I do is clamp those two clamps above the windshiled shut.

I will admit it takes a bit of practice. My soft top has never leaked. (sound of knocking on wood)

HOWEVER, my hard top is leaking on the back window bottom right....going to the delaer for that soon before I swap tops for the summer.

Good luck!
