just got my soft top from dealer - hmm

Hey guys, I bought my jeep about a month and a half ago and the dealer finally sent me the soft top they forgot to put in the jeep. The side windows say Bestop on them.
The tops I've look at on the bestop website don't really look like this one. Mine has the two latches on the front of it(like the freedom top has) whereas the tops on the website have the knobs that screw in on the front...is it possible they sent me the wtong one or do you think this is a different style not listed on the bestop website?

Bestop is a Original Equipment Manufacture for Jeep. What you see on their web site may not be OEM for the JK.The two cardboard boxs that came with my side and rear windows had Bestop on them. The header on my top has two latchs to secure the top to the top of the winsheild, I don't see any other way of doing it.

Think you are ok....

Congrats on the new Jeep, and remember to wave!

It sounds like the OE equipment.Have you tried installing it yet?
Try it out and see how it fits.I think it'll be fine.
Congrats on the new Jeep.

it seems to look like the replace a top...anyways, i put it on...the front two corners dont seem to want to stay down(maybe its bent, im going to play with it) and on the two end of the tailgate retainer, right above the tail gate, there are two spaces which you can see right inside the jeep?
AHHH

The front bow (the bar that runs widthwise) just behind the driver/front passanger seat has a plastic clip that needs to 'seat' into the bar that runs lenghwise of the Jeep.

It also helps if you can allow your top to sit in the sun and strach out a bit.

I don't have the spaces at the back, there is a LH and RH clip..and a front/back (think there's arrows to show this)

Keep at it, you will get there, it took me a bit to get use to, now I can have the top up in 5min or less....like ridding a bike.

Maybe surf the net for a step by step photo??

Are soft tops suppose to seal all round? I just adjusted it and I can still hear air coming in the front two corners over the windshield

Yes, it should seal all the way around, first time I installed it I was actually impressed with the engineering put into this top!! When driving you should not hear any wind noise, whistle if you get my drift (no pun intended) Just remember its a single layer of canvas, so it's louder in the cab then with the hard top.

When putting your top on, as per the manual I work from front to back, then secure the two clamps under the sun visors last. These should be stiff when you press them in.

If you still have questions, post some pictures, they are worth a 1,000000 words, I may be able to help better

1. first image is of the passenger side...it looks as if maybe its bent or something? i dont know, like I said before, Im knew to jeep and do not know much about this...

2. second image is of the front(obviously lol) notice how the passenger side look as if its sitting a bit higher over the windshield?

3. third image is of the drivers side(same as image one) looks like it bent up a bit...

4. forth image is where I can see some daylight out he siide, almost where it is bentt up...I dont hear too much wind coming in there, I hear the wind more from the front corners..

5. fifth image is the passenger side...right up in the corner(between the latch and where the plastic ends, before the roll bars protector(zipper) starts) is where I hear wind coming in...

6. sixth image is the drivers side...same thing as passenger side...

7. seventh image is from undernear where is looks like its bent up on drivers side(refer to # 3)

Well, you are one a head of me, I have yet to post any pixs, they worked, I can now see what you mean.

Your first photo reminded me of the first time I put my softtop on, and I hope its the same easy fix for you. The gap from the softtop header and the seal on the window frame look normal....for a softtop that is not properly locked down with the two clamps under the sun visor.

(Its hard to tell if they are locked in place or not in the photos,,,,sorry if they are and I can't tell)

These are hinged, and you have to put your two thumbs and seperate them, then insert the J hook part on the frame of the windshild, then push the handle in to lock it in. Doing it right will need a bit of pressure to make it lock in.

I have a picture I've tried to insert, 1st timer, not going so well, will try again when Im not tired.

Check this link out, note step six...since I can't post pictures ??

Your second photo seems ok too, the frame of the top I don't think will ever be perfectly square, never really noticed myself.

The other thing you need to check is since this is a sunrunner, when you put the top up, did the frame of the top slide in the plastic rails, and the round pin on each side lock into the pivoit point. I just thinking if you do have the latchs in place under the sun visors, then maybe the entire top is not sitting forward enough.

Same link check out step #11

I hope his is helping, and not frustrating check the clamps under the visor....the 1.5 to 2" gap your first photo shows is very typical until you lock them down, they are a two piece clamp on a hinge.

Good luck and keep trying you will get though this part.

Too bad you are in SSM, we could have had this nailed in the parking lot of Tim Hortons :)
