Default JK Blinker MOD?

Has anyone heard about this mod? It's kind of neat, essentially what it is you cross a wire with the marker and the blinker and it turns the side marker light into a blinker+marker light from what I can see and they alternate back and forth which is kind of neat.

Anyone know if this is illegal? How much warranty does this void? Anyone from Chrysler want to weigh in on this mod, there's a link to the how to video down below. It's very simple and kinda cool I like.

If you ask me....I think that mod will make things more legal rather than illegal. I've always thought we had to have a visable blinker on the side, but I could be wrong. Doing the mod would make a lot of sense since we want to notify people in the adjacent lane that I am changing into a lane that they might want to go into as well.

As for warranty, if you bring in your jk for an engine knock (as an example) as a result of poor assembly or defective product, but they deny warranty because of the blinker mod....well I would highly doubt they would do that. That's my opinion.

Can never be to sure.. I know we have a few people who work for Chrysler and would know if the warranty covers or if it some how effects it. But as for legality is concerned, sometimes there is stupid laws that could be something as small as your lights can't blink alternating could be seen as an emergency vehicle. Stupid stuff like that.

I've seen late model cars and trucks with side blinkers. Many even on the side mirrors.
Doubt it is illegal as long as your front and rear markers work as well.

Legality isn't a huge issue I can't really see me being pulled over for it.

I'd really like to know if this would effect warranty alot or at all. If it nulls all of the electrical warranty coverage it isn't worth it, I know that there has been some electrical issues with some chrysler models.

I haven't heard any electrical issues with the Jeep with exception to the clock on the radio (I could be wrong).

But AutoJunkieMan, if you are so worried about warranty on your new Jeep (and I bet all this waiting is killing you...lol), leave it stock until the warranty is up. I use to worry about the warranty and still do, and that's why I am leaving her as stock as much as possible for the time being. I love modding cars and have done a lot in the past, and learned a few lessons on even the smallest mod. Any type of mod can affect your warranty (and sometimes insurance - depending on insurance company)...but at the end of the day it's all up to the dealer you to either say nay or yay,

Checked into this mod to, like you said real neat. Plan to do it as soon as the snow melts below the tire level. Biggest thing if read through the whole forum, it that you shouldn't use the blue fold over crimp style connector. The one where to put the new wire beside the line to want to tap into and then fold the top over and it cuts into and existing wire. This type of connector is NOT waterproof and will eventually corrode and fail, (unless you somehow water proof it).
As to illegal, half the vehicles today use this blinker/marker flashing combo, so how's a cop gonna know this isn't standard Jeep wiring?

Yeah i am not going to use quick spice connectors, i will do a full strip and solder with self vulcanizing tape. I did avionics in college (aircraft electrical wiring) so i know my way around. Should het my jeep in a few days/weeks. I just wonder if jeep will void my electrical warranty doing this.
