After buying my Wrangler I began looking at a good location to put my 10" jbl sub. In my last Grand Cherokee I had this sub just spliced into the factory system and it actually sounded really good. Looking for similar results in my brand new JK, I wanted that awesome sound, without taking up my cargo space, as I use it constantly. Always having either my guitar gear and Marshall stack, or mine and my teamates hockey gear or ski equipment on my way to the mountains, it was an important factor to keep as much space as possible freed up. Well this is what I came up with. I figured I would post it here in case anyone else is contemplating the same question about their JK.

This is the best way I could think of to install a sub without taking up too much room. I'm happy with how it turned out.

 

clean look! why not use that speaker enclousure just to the right of the amp for your sub? looks like a
8" sub would fit, then use a rollbar type speaker for the rears? doing this you could run 2 subs then 1 on each side of the cargo area.

I was thinking about utilizing the enclosure, but wanted to stick with my 10" sub. Didn't think it would be easy to modify it to fit a 10 with it still looking good. I also considered using the amp to drive the factory 8" sub harder but wasn't sure what kind of results that would yeild.

It sounds really good! I actually have it dialed down quite a bit, as the sub can easily overpower the rest of the system. Sounds great cranked up.

 

I tried utilizing the factory enclosure with my Pioneer 8" shallow mount. It actually sounded quite good until it hit certain notes then you noticed that factory enclosure is not really sealed at all. I had numerous air leaks that made the sub sound terrible (only certain types of notes). Out it came and sealed it up with some silicone and polyfill which corrected many of its short falls. Ultimately I pulled the factory sub box in place of an appropriate sealed box and sport model rear panel.

 

I got the Infinity sound and it's not quite what I had hoped for. I've been wondering how to best put a sub in there, and your setup looks great! I don't have an unlimited, so space is also a concern for me. I've only had the JK for a couple of weeks, so I'll probably make this a Spring & Summer project.

 

Great look and clean look out there mate! How did you manage your jeep grand cherokee cargo dimensions in putting that one and it really did not consume too much space. Is there a measurement of this?Also what is the size of that speaker it realli fits yours. Im thinking of buying a speaker and i think if it's ok i will copy this concept because i think this is really impressive
