Hey Ive got an 07 Rubicon, and Ive never removed the doors. Seemed easy enough so I bought the correct wrench and attachments, removed the hinge bolt, the strap, and the fuse harness. It says to lift the door straight up so I did. Wouldnt bug. So i opened it wider and wider trying different angles to get it started. No dice. I figured it was just stiff because its been a couple years and the doors have never been removed. I lathered it up with WD-40 on 3 separate occasions to make sure it sunk in and was lubricated nicely. Tried again. Still not even a budge. I tried with 2 of us also, 1 lifting from the bottom of the door, the other where the window meets the top. Wouldnt even move. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. What am I doing wrong? Seems so simple???

Lift harder and try to wiggle it at the same time. they can be a challenge if they've not been off in a while.

ya ive tried that...tried so hard to just get it sttarted...any sign of movement at all would keep my trying..but nothing at all.

I had the same problem the first time i tried. Before you unplug the doors roll the window down, open the door to a 90 degree angle to the jeep, on the exterior side of the door reach in thru the window and grab the inside handle, reach down with the other hand or even your knee to the bottom of the door, then apply enough pressure up to make you fart then apply some more and wiggle back and forth at the same time.This worked for me but it required ALOT of exertion.Be cautious when the doors finally do come off that you dont over pull and slam the door into the side of the jeep.Apply lithium grease to the pins and sleeves before reinstalling. Hope this helps.

WD 40 is not bad, you may want to invest in some premium penitrating oil (sorry I don't have a brand I can recommend) CTC will have it. Douse it, and really let that soak in. Like Detonatorunlimited said, window open @ 90 degs and lift.

If that don't cut it....I've heard (yet to try) guys using a floor jack or bottle jack under the bottom lip of the door to help apply just a bit more leverage to break the hing pins loose. I my self would place a 2X4 down the length of the door lip, and place the jack in the middle....then adjust the jack to that it's just applying a BIT of force, then try and lift by hand again. Apply a bit of force at a time with the jack....it won't take much to free the doors.

Good luck, well worth the effort, top down AND door less, ya the smile on your face will last for many many KMs down the road.

Ya they can be really hard to get off even just after the 1 winter. Be careful with the oil and wd40.....sometimes it is bad for the paint. when u do get them off like said above put a film of lithium grease, never seize, my fav is some graphite lube because it is sort of dry and seems to last good. Just be careful spraying stuff around paint, spray on a rag and wipe it on or something.

Had the same problem with both my '07 and '08
I unbolted each hinge from the door(1 at a time so the door wouldn't need too much adjusting later)

The one single hinge works back and forth while lifting a lot easier than the whole door :)
Once I got the hinge off by itself I cleaned the pins with a wire brush then put them back on with some lithium grease and bolted everything back together.
The doors now lift off with no effort at all.

On the '08 I noticed that the sleeves seemed to be filled with some kind of rubbery plastic gunk. I'm guessing it's put in to keep them tight and maybe waterproof from the factory.

If overspray of WD 40 is a concern, mask the area off with some painters tape. Small detail, but it may help....the tape trick also works great when you wax a vehical and don't want to get wax on the black parts....like door handles ect...

jeepminded is correct,try using a floor jack with a block of wood(use a rag to not damage the paint),but be careful cuz it will pop out all at once.
unbolting the hinges from the door is a bit extreme but it will work nonetheless.
let us know if you finally get èm off.
I use a penetrating lube called Zep45..works better than WD-40

ok so just to confirm..when you said 90% u mean half way from being straight out to the side correct? Just try to lift and wiggle as much as I can..and if that doesnt work then to grab a jack and put a rag on it and under the door. Should the head of the jack be in the middle of the door, or closer to the hinge side of the door as I start to apply pressure?
