Default Hardtop Installation

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone know of any good instructional videos or anything for changing from a softtop to a hardtop? I have no clue how to put that sucker on.

Thanks,

Chris

It's not that hard to do. First you want to remove all the extra plastic crap that was put there for the softtop to attacht to. After that just put the sucker on and clip and bolt down.

I'm not 100% sure of everything, seeing how I took off the tent once, to never return it. So I'm not to helpful, but basically what i remember is everthing had to come off for it to fit. Didn't take me long, as long as you have a friend to lift it with you, you can see what need to come off for it to fit. (for example the plastic around the doors. I'm sure someone on here will give you a better answer.

2 or 4 door Wrangler? I change tops over every year on my Unlimited and can talk you through that, 2 door is prolly quite similar. Only tools required are torx tips. Not at home so can't remember the exact sizes.

Remove the plastic door surrounds held in place by the 3 bolts (per side) with large plastic **** heads.
Unclip the 2 plastic softtop window bar holders by grasping them from the cargo bed side and pulling aft.
Remove the 2 (per side) torx screws at the roll bar holding the softtop bent swing bars in place, slide the bars out and store the torx screws back in the bars.
Open your tailgate and manhandle the softtop out, there is nothing else holding it in.
You should see the sliding captive nuts that the hardtop will bolt into in the cargo bed side rails.
Using a hoist or enlist a helper and lift the rear portion of the freedom top (approx 90 lbs) into place with the alignment bolts dropping into their holes in the side bed rails.
Secure with 3 (per side) bolts in the cargo area and 1 (per side) bolt up top in the forward corners near the crossbar.
Connect the rear wiper/defrost plug and rear washer rubber tube.
Install the forward 2 freedom top panels, passenger side first, using the 2 (1 per pnl) hand screws and slide the little arms into place to finish securing.

I think that should cover it. I'd send better pics but this was the only one I had on this computer showing the softtop down.
