Had this same argument with a bunch of tuner guys i hang out with, most cases you will lose horsepower with CAI/short ram intakes, etc. Then people did dyno testing and proved it lol, so im going to have to agree and say its the same with jeeps. Thats why i want rid of the one thats on my jeep lol. well that, and i do alot of trail riding/river crossings and im terrified of sucking up water.

I don't have a CAI and am not going to get one, because i don't believe they do much either. Just stating a few reason why people buy them, the same for a jeep as any other vehicle. I had the superchip for my 09 and really liked it, and was a noticable difference. I think more for the transmision changes then any real hp gains.

Re: Cold air intake and Throttle body spacers

I wheel with a CAI (been theough mid and water as high as my headlights with a 3.5" lift) and it's somewhat risky but I'm careful and I do eventually plan on getting a snorkel instead but until I go through deep enough water or mud...im fine. The airbox is all the way at the top of the hood.

I did actually gain mpg and a slight better response when I touch the pedal. I did it because I got the intake as a gift...i would advice though...I kept my stock airbox and plan to put a snorkel instead. This is my personl preference especially ecause I'm wheeling my jeep

Do what u want . If you don't wheel...buy it. To each his own.
