Cold air intake and Throttle body spacers

Hey Guys and Gals,

Bought a 2010 Jeep and after owning it for 2 years i've finally decided to start putting some mods on it.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are about Cold Air Intakes and Throttle Body Spacers

Brands, Oiled vs Dry Filters.

Ive read a couple posts around the internet saying that Throttle body spacers are a complete waste of time.

Any input is appreiciated!!!

Thanks

I run the spacer but I got it for free when I bought my super chips. So I can't say if it does anything...

I'd stay away from CAI's. People have hydro locked there engine just by driving through a puddle.

Avoid CAI for sure. Garbage if u offroad thru mud or water as u will be just asking to hydrolock ur Rig. Go for a snorkel system instead.
Spacers are a waste of money as well.

It's a Jeep, not a muscle car. If you were talking about a mustang then I'd say yes, get a CAI. Since it is a Jeep you are wasting your money. If you off road at all, you are just asking for trouble with a CAI.

I will add to that. Spacer does nothing and the only acceptable CAI is a full snorkel. If you want a little more performance get a Superchips programer..

If its a grand cherokee and your not off roading and looking for better fuel economy then go for it. I put a CAI , superchip tuner and exhaust on my 06 Dodge power wagon and it made a huge difference, in fuel economy and performance. approx. 400hp out of the Hemi with these upgrades and on a massive heavy truck.
I'll do it to my 09 Grand cherokee limited as well,.. mainly for the sound and performance, I have the truck for off roading.

I have a AEM brute force CAI i would gladly trade for your stock airbox LOL, it was on it when i bought the rig and im a nervous wreck every time i offroad the dam thing. Yea sure you get a cool sound when you are on the skinny pedal, but i HIGHLY doubt the performance increase is worth upping your odds of sucking up water.

I can't get my head around this. WHY would you put a CAI on a JEEP????? Hey I get it everyone is intitled to do what they want with their rigs but it makes no sense.

More hp, better gas mileage, neat sound, not everyone with a jeep goes through 3 1/2 ft of water.

Actually, no gain in mileage, and no gain in HP. The manufacturers would like you to think they make gains, but do your research and you will find you will gain as much by putting a K&N filter in the stock airbox (which is NADA).. But hey, its your money do as you wish
