Default AEV's Snorkel

AEV's Snorkel comes with either a highly effective cyclonic Pre-Filter (bowl) or Air Ram (scoop).

Does anyone have a preference or does one maybe work better than the other?

I've have no experience with either, but this is from their website FAQ.

There are advantages to both. If you routinely use the vehicle off-road in dusty conditions (and you’re not the trip leader), the Pre-Filter is by far the best option. Its cyclonic filtration removes most debris and dust, spinning the dirt out of the air much like a cyclonic vacuum cleaner. Pre-Filters are commonly used on heavy equipment like bulldozers and graders, as well as on some commercial trucks. The Air Ram is better suited to wet environments or if you encounter tight trees and brush where the Pre-Filter could be damaged. And many people will make their selection simply based on aesthetics.

Most guys in Alberta run the ram air. Including myself.

Why? Because Stan at Northridge told me to go that route. You can also buy both filters and run which ever one you need for that moment.

Also in AB and with the amount of gravel and dirt roads I drive on to get to the trails I use the pre-filter. I installed a brand new filter in my airbox and after a summer of running the gravel roads the filter in the airbox still looked brand new.
