Default Advice on roof rack

I need a way to transport 2 bikes, and was looking into roof racks. I need some advice though and I appreciate any insight...

-I have an 07', 2 door JK, would I have to remove the roof rack in order to take my roof off?
-I like the idea of a roof rack because I can use it for skis/snowboards/extra cargo, but maybe a spare tire mount for my bikes would be best...I'm looking for something inexpensive, does anyone know what a roof rack/bike holder versus a spare tire bike mount would cost?

Cheers.

Just go to a site like http://www.yakima.com/ and find what fits your Jeep, then google around for the best price in your area. I'll be buying the Yakima spare tire rack soon for my jeep, they make good racks. Should be able to get it for under $200.

I personally wouldn't want a roof rack for my bikes, it would be a pain getting them up that high.

Why not get a bike rack that attaches to the spare tire? Or is mounted in the hitch?

Yep, that's what I'm leaning towards. I think a roof rack won't be very feasible in terms of being able to take the top off in the summer...

There are racks out there that will still allow you to take the top off and even still use the rack with the top off.
Here are some examples
Gobi
Wild Boar
Congo Cage
This ones a pdf
Garvin
