2013 Sahara - Steering Issue in 4WD Low
Hi All:
I have noticed some major steering issues in my new Sahara while in 4WD - High when I am turning into parking spaces or basically whenever I have the steering turned to 80%+. Creates a major shake through the steering wheel and a "bunny hopping" feel. Taking it to the dealer this week but wondering if anyone has experienced this and what the outcome was? Thanks in advance.
Sheila

Re: 2013 Sahara - Steering Issue in 4WD Low
Well, I've always thought that this was an inherent quality. My '08 Sahara does this too, and so did my Suzuki Samurai before I got the jeep. Doing a tight 180 in four wheel drive, or any sharp turn and the front end wants to bounce around it, rather than roll smoothly.
This obviously can't be good on the rotating metal parts and bearings, so all that I do is pop it out of four wheel until I'm done, then put it back in. Cruising is never a problem, provided the angle of the front wheels remain within a specific angle range that isn't very severe.
I don't see this as a problem, so much as a physical conflict in and of the mechanical systems that drive the vehicle.

what about the front end alignment? if things aren't set up right, it can enhance these sort of issues...
i paid $88 for an alignment after installing my lift, and IMO it was money well spent...

a decent explanation of why you have that effect can be found here as well as the difference with 4wd vs AWD
