Just out of curiosity, does everyone feel it necessary to have to chip the 3.6? I know I had an '08 JK 6-speed with the 3.8 and comparing that to the new 3.6 with 6-speed it feels like a racecar!

Well the process doesn't add a "chip" to the vehicle, it's illegal to "chip" a vehicle. This just saves the factory ECU programmed settings and replaces it with an aftermarket one. Essentially reprogramming the motor to run differently.

Say your commuting, you'd set the tune to Eco so the engine will produce less power and use less fuel no need for it. Say your towing, you can put in a tow tune it'll move your torque around so you have better towing power and economy, or say off roading it'll increase your max power and torque and probably use up alot more gas. The stock tune is fine, but it's for the specialized situations that this is really handy.
