Next time save yourself some time. YOu don't have to wait an hour for it to reset. Just 10-30 seconds is enough.
Did you get your jeep new or used? Is it an aftermarket radio you have in there?
Open her up and see if the ant. got disconnected. If it's an aftermarket radio head, check and see you connected the power ant. wire (although this will result in FM losing reception as well).

Hi there
bought my 2011 used in Jan. stock radio/base model. Not sure I want to open everything up to get at it... does AM have it's own antenna? Strange that FM works fine

am is more sensative to interference than fm, a poor antenna ground might take out am reception but still receive fm. If it's the original radio it might still be under warranty.

Very well could be an interference issue, either with the vehicle's radio AM system or the radio station/vehicle for the area you are driving in.
Make sure you take out all other accessories, phone charger, ipod, GPS, etc to rule that out, then go from there. Warranty or not, dealer can take a look at it and try to narrow down the possibilities. Even compare with a similar model.
Hope this helps!

Just consider it as your Jeeps way of saying "Buy me a real head unit!" Swapped out my stock/base model unit for a Sony head unit and the difference in sound is really noticable. (I have the Infinity upgrade with subwoofer). Sony's MEX BT3900 (BT - stands for Bluetooth) is far more tuning options to
allow you to maximize your sound, and the hands free bluetooth for your phone a nice touch.
