Hi all I recently rented a 4Dr 2010 Jk for a weekend and drove up to the cottage with my wife and 2 kids aged 4 and 8. I loved it and definitely plan on purchasing a Wrangler.
Having a hard time deciding on the 2 or 4 door ! During the week I drive solo, summer weekends we head up to the cottage. Weekends are the only time the 4 of us are in the car together. Also like the look of the 2door more than the 4 .I visited a dealesrship and asked my son to get in and out of the 2011 2door.He had no problem whatsoever getting in and out.. .Any body driving a 2 door with kids ? Enough room back there with 2 kids and couple of bags of groceries ? I should mention we also have and plan on keeping the Volvo Suv as the main family vehicle.

Well I have a 2 door 09 wrangler and picked it for the same reason, I liked the look better than a 4 door. Two kids plus supply's will take up alll the room in a two door for sure . I love my wrangler but there are times I wish I had the room of a 4 door. But most of the time I drive by my self so it's not a problem. I heard the new 2011 2 doors made it easier to get in the back of the jeep. If u decide two go with the two door I would get the Hard top roof rack to carry alot of the stuff ur going to have than it wont be so bad.

Ps the look of a 2door is better in my opinion. And the look is a big factor lol

2dr looks better but backseat entry is pain in a$$ at best. I have 4 x 2drs and no back seat in any of them. But I also have an F250 when I need more room. As kids get bigger the 2dr backseat gets worse, not better.

i have a 2 door jk, kids are 6 and 2. I opted for the 2 door b/c of looks and power to weight ratio. Kids are in a boaster and infant 3 in 1 child seat and no issues here. Going camping/skiing is an issue, but looking into getting a roof rack (Gobi rack).

Please note i prefer the looks of the 2 door, but I also like the look of the 4 door, so don't call me a hater. lol....it took me almost 3 months to decide on it, and another 2 hours at the dealership. Sigh...the things I go through in life! lol

Personally I have a 4 door with 2 kids (3 & 6). I don't think that I could do a 2 door with the kids. Not to mention that there is a lot less trunk space in the 2 door. My jeep is our own vehicle as my wife doesn't drive so we have to get everything in it.

Some dealerships will let you do a extended Test drive. See if you can take a 2 door out for a few hours with all the family and go grocery shopping. It will surprise how little you can get back there when you have the kids in the back seat.

I dont think I would buy a 2 door as a main vehicle if you have 2 kids. there is no trunk space with the back seat up. Honestly there is about a foot deep of space... cant even fit a loaf of bread back there without smushing it lol. It sucks to get kids in and out of it. I have 2 nieces 8 and 11 and they hate climbing in there. I took the seat out 2 months after I got it and it has never been back in. Its now a couch in the garage :) Hope this helps. But the 2 door just look way better !!

We have 1 4dr and 2 2drs. The 2drs have the rear seats removed 99% of the time as they are pretty much useless for anyone of size IMHO. The seat size is OK but the foot/leg room is only good for tiny feet and short legs. If you intend on keeping the Jeep for long you will see that your children will soon grow out of that 2dr.

I love the 4dr. With seats folded down its a good hauler with plenty of room (enough to sleep in if need be on wet camping trips) and would never consider trading it in on another 2dr. As far as looks go I now prefer the look of the lifted 4dr, it's a beast.

I went through the big 2dr./4dr decision on my first and so far only Jeep. I have one 8yr. old son. I like going into the bush and couldn't be happier. The 2 dr looks cool but can carry very little. I'm trying to convince the wife to get a 2dr. to replace her Civic . Then we both won't worry on these crappy roads .
The 4dr. is heavier but still nimble enough to go anywhere the 2 dr. can unless your rock crawling which I hardly ever do. Even then , it work with 2 coolers , 3 sleeping bags , tents, guns , duffles etc. in it.
Nothing better than 4 bying with your swag going with you. My .02, Cheers.

IMHO, 2 door. With your other vehicle available for outings, get the original 2 door.
