Default 2.5 inch lift + 1 inch body lift

Ok, I did try and search this topic but the search function didnt want to work for me.

I landed on a 2.5 inch lift, because I didn't want to have to change my axles or gearing or anything like that. But I was told that you can still get that 3.5 inch lift if you put a 1 inch body lift into the 2.5 inch lift.

Now by doing this does the body lift change the geometry of the suspension and will it still need the drivelines aligned or whats the deal?

I saw teraflex has a shock and spring 2.5 inch kit with a bunch of other do dads that ive no clue what they do. But I do know I don't want to get my drivelines changed and have to regear. I plan to shove 35 inch tires under it possibly wide 295 or 305 not sure. Make everything offset and wide.

Thanks

You should be able to fit 35's with just the 2 and a half inch lift, perhaps even larger. A body lift has nothing to do with suspension or drivelines but you would have to make sure you don't damage brake lines, hoses or wiring during the process. Is it worth the work and expense for the extra inch? probably not.

I think you would be ready to rock with a 2.5" suspension lift on a 2 door. BLs on a jk are a waste of time IMO of course.

Just wasn't sure if I could comfortably get 35s under my rig with iust a 2.5 inch. I really don't want to have geometry issues going to high. But I will be putting aluminum sliders on when I get my tax returns, then looking at rims rubber and a lift.

Also, does the stock carrier fit a 35? I know there is a size it won't fit.

You will be fine with 35s and 2.5" lift.. As for the carrier, that depends on the tire and rim you choose..

I was thinking Wrangler duratrac tires, as far as rims I don't really know. Id like to stay with 17 inch rim size if at all possible just a higher wall. I was thinking width ether 295 or 305. Id like to get a bit offset too, I would like to stick out from the fenders a bit. Not sure how much backspacing I need for that. Eventually id like to swap out the fenders for flat ones also.

I fit 315/75r-16 Duratracs on the stock carrier with wheels that have 4.5" backspace. The 315/70r-17 will also fit on the carrier.

Thats really great information to have thanks.

I have been having a hard time finding where to buy rims and tires, I will need to make the investment gradual so when the lift is ready I can bolt on the tires and be ready in the end.
