For balance of power and fuel economy the Dodge 5.2l 318. For more power and slightly less fuel economy, the 5.9l 360. Either will provide a cost effective solution because they are relatively inexpensive and easy to get hold of.

 

350 chevy cause there are mounts available to get the job done including bellhousing adapters to mate the tranny to the motor. but I would get motor and transmission and go with it.

 

350 chev is the cheapest usually, and has tons of aftermarket parts.
