Default Unbelievable...

When I bought my truck, the remote doorlock wasn,t working.
Yesterday I drove to an jeep dealer. He said he had to reprogram it.Needs 1,5 hours. When I came back, he told me that the remote was not from a grand cherokee so it doesn,t work.Anyway I had to pay 53 $ ( for what? )
I drove then to an auto lockssmith. He had a new remote, stepped with a computer in my truck and startet programming. After 5 minutes he came back and told me my truck wasn,t equiped for an remote system?!
Whats now? is that possible?
But there is a sensor on the dashboard and the computer at the roof tells me a lot off options how it should work ( with turnlights, with headlights etc)

Sorry for my bad english!

I've never seen a grand cherokee without a remote keyless entry system (RKE) . I've been trying to gind information about the rke system ( programming etc ) for a few years now and have found out nothing useful. There has to be another way to program these things other than take it to the dealer, it sounds like a license to print money to me.

mine stopped working, put new batteries in the fob, worked for a day, then nothing. dealer wanted $125 for a new one incl. programming, etc. which i thought was a little steep. the minute i left the dealer it started working and has been fine ever since.

lets just say jeeps can be finicky sometimes. with mine, if you roll the key clockwise, then counterclockwise to manually unlock the driver's door, the alarm goes off, but not if you just turn it ccw... i found that kind of odd.

some auto parts stores sell after market fobs and chip keys, you may find an answer there...
