Transmission help
Hey guys, looking for some help here.
I have a 1993 GC, 4.0 with a 42RE. What's happening is when put it into drive it takes alot of gas to make it move. Feels like it's stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear when you go to take off . I can shift it manually one, two and drive no problem. Goes into reverse no problem. I changed the fluid and filter but didn't help. I also had it scanned for codes, no codes. The governor pressure wasn't reading right though. I tried changing TCM's and nothing changed. Would this be a bad governor pressure sensor and solenoid? or another TCM?

Have you tightened the bands at all? The 42RE should be done every fluid change, around 50,000kms
The sensor and solenoid should be changed as a pair and can make a huge difference in performance.

So just an update for anyone that runs into this same problem. I put in
today brand new governor pressure sensor and solenoid today. Shifts like a
dream now. Problem fixed. Yayy!!
