Default Trailer Brake Control for 08 Diesel

Just bought a Tekonsha trailer brake control and a Dodge wiring harness. The supplier said it is pretty much plug-n-play except for 2 screws for mounting bracket. Any one know how to activate the two black fasteners to drop the plastic shield under the steering column? Hopefully this will show me where to plug in the connector for the brake contol.

Not plug n play. had to pull out black hush panel (2 screws under steering column) plus pull down on panel also below steering column. It hinges at the bottom and pulls down from the top. Anyway found a green wire taped to a harness near the firewall that goes to 7 way trailer plug at hitch. Had to hard wire the rest. Not that difficult and everthing was in instruction manual in how to install properly and set it up. Did solder all my connections c/w proper gauge wire and 20 amp auto reset breaker connected to battery +12. Connected -12V of brake controller to battery as well, not to frame.

I've been using the same controller since july of 08.

one feature you MAY want to consider if you're towing a trailer that requires brakes(depending on size I guess) is a load distribution/Sway control hitch system.

with anything above 16ft they make a HUGE tow performance and stability difference.

I regularly haul a custom 20ft race trailer with living quarters etc and the WD hitch makes the rig so stable my wife has has no fear of driving it at highway speed.

I'm using an equalizer brand unit.
