Default RB1 Stereo Upgrade

I recently upgraded from my original stereo from the RBP to the RB1

So, I went from this:

To This:

I know...it's more "Bling" then an off road mod, but the price was right, and it does have the ability to mark trails (Up to 150 miles of trail) and might help you get back out if you should lose your way...Safety first, right :D

Anyway, here's a few pics:

Original Radio coming out

Gauge cluster coming out to place GPS antenna

There is a ledge behind the gauges that's the perfect place to stick the antenna

NOTE: Putting an RB1 into a Pre-2002 vehicle requires a harness adapter. I tried some aftermarket ones, but none of them worked properly...The radio functions were alright, but the steering wheel controls didn't work, and the GPS did not track properly. I now have the Mopar harness and everything works perfectly.

Test before I jam it all back together

Tuck all the wires back in and reinstall

Put the gauge cluster back in

Then Re-Install Trim piece

Now I'm one of the cool kids too! AND my new Nav Radio can direct me towards all the hot soccer moms with the maps I now have!

Later.

Was looking at doing this before but the price was to high for me, so I just went and got a Garmin nuvi instead.
How is the screen for visibility while your driving?

Screen looks great when I'm driving. No viewing angle issues, if that's what you're asking.

I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get it for a great price...they're something like $1500+ new...I bought mine on e-bay for about $300.00 shipped to my door, so it seemed like a good price for the upgrade. I'd like to get the iPod adapter kit for it too, so I'll never run out of music when I'm camping, but they cost almost as much as what I paid for the stereo, so it makes it tough to justify right now...but it IS nice because it charges the iPod, and lets you control it through the radio or steering wheel controls so you don't have to look at the little iPod screen while driving...

Yup...just keep your eye on the e-bay and see what comes up! The one thing that helped me was our dollar was stronger when I bought it, so they might not be quite as cheap for a while...but there are lots of smashed up Libertys, Mini-Vans, Pacificas, etc...out there, so keep an eye open!

I never did check out any of the local wreckers...That might be worth a shot too. SOmetimes you can get lucky...

Where abouts do you live?

Looks damn good. I looked at putting in the nav/20 gig hard drive when I bought mine and it was $4000. So I stuck with the 6 disc and bought a $200 GPS.
