I'm sort of going through the same thing myself. I really don't NEED new tires but I'd LIKE new tires.
Local tire shop (which has pretty competative prices) quoted me $250/tire + tax for BFG 245/70 R16. Out of curiosity looked up same tire from tire rack in the US. With exchange and 13% tax, will cost $203. Like $200 difference for 4! If I stay down for +48 hours and go with another person, we can each claim 2 tires under exemption and save about $400......go figure. You had best check out these figures for yourself, the memory dims.

with the reviews I have been reading on some tire sites I'm going to roll with the Firestones.They have a 80,000km warranty. $180.00 installed balanced with valve stem!

black wall or letters out???

Tires are being installed tomorrow as somthing came up today! What do most of you have? I have always ran with black wall out but some rides just look good with the white letters out. What does everyone prefer? General Grabbers AT go on tomorrow.

I always run the black sidewalls out but then I've got a completely black Jeep. Don't want any tacky white lettering marring the perfection that is Jeep. :)

 

true that! I have always run black wall out too! prolly go that route!

You would

only reason to run the black letters out is because If you wear down the sidewalls on rocks... and now a few of your white letters are twice the size and just look ugly

 

White Letters for some older muscle, Black wall for newer stuff.


But that's just my opinion.
