NV247 transfer case questions?

Default NV247 transfer case questions?

hey all,

1st question in the case the chain... is there a tensioner for it? or once it is stretched it needs to be replaced?
2nd does the viscous coupler actually retain oil? if filling a empty t-case and you are full of the ( dealer only t-case ) lubricant from the fill hole, when going for a test ride after and fluid then works it's way around will oil stay IN the coupler? so then would need to top back up to the bottom of the fill hole ?

also can the chain ( if cannot be tightened ) be swapped out if you take the back 1/2 of the t-case off? will the chain slide off the drive gears ?

Probably no help but I've never seen a t/case with a tensioner. You usually have to pull the whole thing apart to change the chain. I'll see if I can find out some more specific information.

The coupling in the 247 is not sealed and is filled by the oil pump, so if you fill the case to the correct level you should be good to go.
