Default Noise in the cold ??

Hello Everyone .. Happy New Year. I am a newbie to this site ..
I own a 2004 GC Limited 4.7L and I was wondering if anyone has experience the same noise i hear underneath the front right side when cold.

When I go over a bump in cold weather is sounds almost as if I am bottoming out in the wheel well .. Or as if the tire is hitting ice collected in the wheel well .. I look underneath, checked all wheel wells and there are no rub marks broken springs or shocks. The only thing I can think of is the shock stabalizer ?? not sure what to call it .. looks like part of the steering..

can anyone give me some ideas ?

Thanks very much

Bane

Try bouncing the jeep up and down on flat ground or your dvrway. You might hear a noise then its your shock. If not then lift the right side wheel off the ground now shake the wheel up and down and from side to side we are looking for a looseness as if so then its a bearing. Let me know here what u find out please

WJ's are notorious for having the rubber swaybar bushings squeak when the temperature is below 0*C, they even issued a TSB about it. Get a can of WD-40 and spray the bushings (you don't need a lot), if it goes away you know what the problem is.

Found the TSB for you. Couldn't get it to upload as an attachment so enjoy. :)

Thank you Dan .. much appreciated.

I am going to take it in when it gets really cold. My garage said they will just send the tech on a road test no charge.

Cheers ..

Glad to help but don't let them charge you crazy amounts for something you can fix yourself in 15 minutes.
Take it easy.

Hi Bane,

Was just wondering if you got your squeak fixed. Was it the swaybar or something else?
