the new Guy has questions
Hi everyone,
I am Norbert from Germany.I live and work since nearly 6 years in Canada, BC.
Today I picked up my 1999 Gran Cherokee. Laredo.
It runs nice but sometimes there is a terrible noice coming from the front.Like clonck, clonk.Sometimes it is gone. But it drived really good.
The other question: are there different Headlights in Limited and Laredo Versions?
I liked to order some new Lights at Ebay for an 1999 Grandcherokee and they keep saying not for the Laredo>Why is that???
Thanks for your time,
Norbert

Re: the new Guy has questions
Hi,
so how can I check whats wrong?Maybe lift the front up and shake everything to see if there is something loose?
I went today to the next Jeep dealer. He refuses to do a test drive.Told me I had to make an appointment and it would take them a couple of hours to find whats wrong.I was totaly shocked!
That,s no service at all.And I told him that I live 20 km away.He told me that would be mine problem.I could walk throug town for hours.
In my opinian that is a rip off.
What do you think?
Thanks for help,
Norbert

Re: the new Guy has questions
If you jack up the front end and get someone else to wiggle things around while you carefully look for whatever is loose, that usually works but you have to look very carefully. A small amount of movement can make a surprising amount of noise.
Regarding the headlights, I thought the difference between a loredo and limited was just a trim level. I don't see why there should be any difference. you could try checking the part numbers at one of the online stores such as autozone etc.

First congrats on the new Jeep, loved that model back then!
As for the service issue, I'm sorry to hear your experience didn't go well. I'm not sure why the dealer would treat you like that.
For your headlight question, I'm wondering if you wanted to PM me, we could discuss which dealer you would like to try and we can get a test drive set up plus contact with the parts department for help with your headlights.

Re: the new Guy has questions
So. the headlights are in.And of course they fit also the Laredo.Just one of the turnlight bulbs has to change into amber. So, if anyone is intrested, don,t hesitate to buy. They all fit perfectly.

Re: the new Guy has questions
The only thing that I don,t like is that the headlight are allways on.With the angeleyes, it would look cooler to go dayover only with parking lights. But I don,t know how to change that.

I was thinking something similar, but using led's behind the grill. Problem is the way the drl's are wired into the system, it would involve making a circuit with relays and diodes and then hacking into the harness.

Re: the new Guy has questions
My remote for locking isn,t working.New batteries are in.Is there any proceture to fix that problem or is there only the jeep dealer able to do that?
